Colonel Vinette E. Gordon

Colonel Vinette E. Gordon, Deputy Commander of Patient Services at the Womack Army Medical Center/Ft. Bragg celebrates nursing at a recent ceremony at the Durham VA Medical Center

Monday, June 27, 2011

The Durham VA Medical Center (DVAMC) is proud of its nursing staff. Over 750 nursing staff are happy to call the DVAMC home. These dedicated individuals include Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses. Coupled with Executive Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and support staff, the Nursing Service is the largest in the entire medical center.

This past May was National Nursing Month. The theme was Nurses, Trusted to Care.  The Nurse Recruitment and Retention Committee sponsored a ceremony to honor the profession of Nursing and present 10 coveted awards, the VA Secretary Awards for Excellence in Nursing. Realizing the celebration never lasts as long as it should, we would like to celebrate Nurses every day.
The ceremony to recognize Nursing, exemplifies the special work they do. Deputy Commander of Patient Services at the Womack Army Medical Center/Ft. Bragg, Colonel Vinette E. Gordon, was the keynote speaker. Kathryn "Ginger" Ward-Presson, Associate Director, Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive at the DVAMC was also present to express gratitude and congratulations to the staff.  A special thank you goes to Jeku Royce C. Arce, Staff Nurse at the Womack Army Medical Center/Ft. Bragg, for the link to the amazing photos.
